We were miles from help and he was crying out in pain...
Tim was crying out in severe pain. The 17 year-old’s arm was broken…a serious compound fracture.
I was leading a groups of teens and we were out in the wilderness of Kentucky, a long hike to our cars and then over an hour away from a hospital. Tim had fallen…this was bad. How were we going to get him to medical help?
One of our chaperones started praying as we were trying to figure out how to transport Tim over rough terrain. While she was praying for God to help us…for Him to provide a miracle…the ground started shaking. We heard loud engines. The bushes started moving. Suddenly, crashing through the bushes, was an enormous army tank, followed by some army Humvees and about a fifty soldiers. With the soldiers was a medic!
I later found out that we were hiking near Ft. Knox, where the army trained tank crews, and this group was on a training mission. At the exact moment that we needed medical help…when we thought we were in the middle of nowhere…a doctor walked out of the woods! They treated Tim and transported him by Humvee back to the base hospital.
God is always watching out for us, and when we really need Him He is an always a present help in times of trouble.
