Common Questions About Baptism

What Is Baptism?
Baptism is an outward expression of an inner commitment, a public demonstration of your decision to follow Christ. Like a wedding ceremony expresses your love and commitment to your spouse, so does baptism express your decision to follow Christ. It was done by Jesus as an example for us and is commanded by Scripture: Matthew 28:19, Mark 16:16, John 3:5, Acts 10:48, Acts 22:16. "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins." - Acts 2:38 NIV
I want to be baptized. What are the next steps?
Contact 4CBC and schedule a meeting with one of our Pastors. At the simple and short meeting our pastor will confirm that you have made a decision to follow Jesus as your Savior and will answer any questions you might have.
When can I be baptized?
You can be baptized in any of our Sunday services throughout the year.
Do I have to talk in front of a big crowd?
Yes, but just a one word reply. At the time of your baptism our pastor will ask you if you have trusted Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior, you will then give a simple 'Yes' or 'No' answer.
Can my friends and family come watch?
Absolutely! They are encouraged to do so!
