FOUR CORNERS BAPTIST CHURCH
our story.
Our Journey
In the spring of 2000 the Missions Team of Kissimmee First Baptist Church felt God leading them to start a church in the Four Corners area. They prayed and God began to bring the vision to reality. After interviewing Rick Ergle to be the Church Planter Pastor the new mission was off and running. Residential developments popped up along US Hwy 27, but commercial development lagged behind with little or no place to rent or meet in. The Missions humble beginnings started in a New York Pizza place. We were allowed to use the facility starting at 9:00am and the place had to be transformed from a pizza/bar into a place of worship and then back into a pizza/bar and be out by noon. This opportunity was short lived because the facility was soon condemned by the county and the little mission had to leave. We were blessed with the temporary use of two different social halls at local camp grounds. As a little mission with a big vision; Mission Four Corners sent (12) members on their first mission trip to Red Lodge, Montana in July of 2001. In October of 2001 the Mission sent a construction team of (8) to Juarez, Mexico to build a church. In the fall of 2001, God blessed the Mission with the opportunity to worship at the Charter School-Ridgeview Global Academy. The Mission continued to grow and in February of 2002, Mission Four Corners constituted and became Four Corners Baptist Church. In August of 2002 Pastor Rick Ergle responding to Gods call to serve elsewhere, resigned and left. Paul Vander Kaay was called to serve as Pastor of this new church in March 2003. The church property and buildings at 125 Cottonwood Drive in Davenport, Florida became available and were purchased by Four Corners Baptist Church in December of 2003. After sixty days of refurbishing and remodeling, the first service was held in the new worship center in February 2004. The church continues to grow and currently has (140) in attendance in the summer with a seasonal attendance of (200+). Some words that help describe what Four Corners Baptist Church is like are: Mission-minded, Kingdom-minded, Family Focused, Bible-centered, and Friendly.
